A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square

So the bad news is that a lengthy and, I thought, quite amusing blog I did on my favorite caper films has disappeared into the nether. How the heck does that happen?

And the good news is that my agent just sold my chick lit yoga mystery series to Berkeley in a three book deal. Of course I haven't actually signed the contract, so perhaps I shouldn't jinx it by speaking of it openly. Perhaps I should just hum my new theme song...

The streets of town were paved with stars,
It was such a romantic affair.
And as we kissed and said "Good-bye,"
A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square.

I've always loved that song--and in fact I associate it very much with the Poetic Death series--which reminds me! Apparently Publisher's Weekly has reviewed SONNET OF THE SPHINX. Gulp. I keep reminding myself of my mantra--that the most important thing is simply being reviewed in the right places--but I admit I'm hoping the review is favorable.

Congratulations on the offer (the DEAL, once you sign). My sister's a yoga teacher. I'll have to buy her a copy once that first book is out. Looking forward to Sonnet of the Sphinx (and very sorry that series is ending).

Tal about some exciting news, DL! Congratulations on the new series, and the Publisher's Weekly review. Which is a coup anyway, but unless they're idiots it'll be favourable.

Congratulations on the new series! That's great news! But I, too, am sorry the Poetic Death series is ending.

Hush now, childee! Regardless of what happens with Pocket, I've made my mind up that the series will continue. I don't know who will publish it, but I know someone is going to pick it up. I just feel...sure. Or maybe I'm on a sugar high from 12 Belgian chocolate cups this morning (washed down with a can of TAB).

Hey, any or all of you three want to do a guest blog here on your favorite vintage crime book, movie or character--and tie it into your own writing and work? Drop me a line if you're interested!
